SERVING THE PEOPLE’S INTEREST

YOUR PUBLIC
SERVANT

I was born on August 2,1971 in Miami, Florida. After learning the harsh street life of Liberty City, my family relocated to Tallahassee, FL in 1984. As a teen, I grew up in the Griffin Heights neighborhood where I attended Griffin Middle and Amos P. Godby High. In 1988, I joined the Tallahassee Urban League’s youth mentoring program. My leadership skills began when I was 17 years old as a peer counselor. As the years progressed along with my experience, I became and continue to be a strong voice in the community in which I serve. My devotion captured the attention of the late Governor Lawton Chiles, who appointed me to the Florida Board of Directors for the newly created Martin Luther King Jr., Institute for Nonviolence. In this capacity, I served as the state’s sole youth representative as well as the Vice Chairman. As a result of this appointment, I traveled the country speaking in various forums on nonviolence, including the United Nations’ “Season of Nonviolence” Conference. I went on to receive the “Citizen of the Year” award from former Florida Attorney General Robert Butterworth. Answering my highest honor to serve, in 2010, I was installed Pastor of New Birth Tabernacle of Praise church. Fast forward, I continue to lend my time and talents to address issues of human relations, gun violence, and fair/just policing for all concerned.

MY CANDIDACY

One of my favorite mottos is: It takes faith to climb the tree, but it takes courage to go out on a limb. With faith, I‘m stepping out on a limb as I desire to serve as your next Leon County Commissioner At-Large, Group 2. As your commissioner, I will actively listen to your concerns, be proactive in addressing our communities issues, be mindful in gathering all pertinent information to make educated decisions while leading with intergrity and a servant‘s heart.
Twenty-nine years ago, I married Katrina. Together, we have four children; Rachel, Rudy, Darrington and Jacobe along with five grandchildren. I believe that a strong community is made of strong servants who come together to make possibilities realities.
The Ferguson family respectfully ask for your support and your vote on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Thank you!
